Thematic Exhibition The Exquisite World of Birds and Flowers

The movements and pleasant songs of birds and the beautiful forms and rich fragrances of flowers have touched the hearts of people since ancient times. People further transformed their beauty by integrating birds and flowers into the designs of paintings and decorative objects that surrounded them in their daily lives. They expressed seasonality through various combinations of birds and flowers or created refined designs through the abstraction of their form.
In addition, birds and flowers were also the subjects of natural science research, and a new world of beauty arose from the illustrated books that came out of this field of study. This exhibition presents the world of birds and flowers cultivated in Japan through paintings and decorative art objects.
