Special Exhibition Hina Doll Festival of the Owari Tokugawa Family 2022

The resplendent Hina Doll Festival offering prayers for the health and happiness of young girls that was held in conjunction with the March 3rd Peach Blossom Festival was an important annual event in the Owari Tokugawa household. Seeing the gallery filled with the doll displays that have been handed down since the Edo period along with the gorgeous tiered doll sets measuring up to two meters tall and seven meters wide of the three generations of wives of the Owari Tokugawa lords from the Meiji to Showa periods is a highlight of the exhibition.
We hope that these small but exquisite and lavishly decorated doll displays of the Owari Tokugawa family will kindle a feeling of anticipation for the balmy days of spring.

Additionally, you can see a video movie (about 11 min.) on how the hina dolls are treated by the curatorial staff in preparation for the exhibition (recorded in 2005, yet still being continued annually in the same manner).
